A polyethylene welding rod is available for use with an electric hot air welding set. The welding rod should be applied within 24hours of the exposed plastic core being cut, due to oxidisation of the PVC core. The edges must be chamfered prior to welding as shown. The weld must be scraped as soon as the rod is cooled and the use of a rounded knife is suggested. Welding Temperature: 230-240oc Pressing Pressure: 1.0-1.5kg Welding Speed: 1000mm/min
With the usual equipment using rivets or blind rivets. For external use please take thermal expansion into account.
To fold Multipanel, by machine or manually, cut a V groove on the reverse side using a panel saw with a milling attachment or a hand-milling cutter. The product can then be easily folded. The recommended temperature for folding is over 10oc. It is essential to fold the panel in a single procedure. Alupanel can be folded using a sheet former or a bending bench.
Can be clamped with a serrated corner joint and butt sections for Alupanel thickness of 3mm and 4mm. When bolting, e=2D is the formula to use to calculate the distance of fixing to the end of the panel.
Alupanel can easily be folded by hand if a “V” shaped groove is milled on the rear of the panel. This can be done using a conventional router (available from your local DIY store) or CNC milling machine. A minimum thickness of 0.3mm of the polyethylene must be left on the bottom / back of the decorative face. Cutting Speed: 3000 - 5000 m/min Feed Speed: 25 - 30 m/min A specialist tool for use with Alupanel is available from: Industrial Tooling Corporation Cyber House, 1 Kepler, Lichfield Road Ind Estate, Tamworth Staffordshire B79 7XE Tel: 01829 304500 Product catalogue number: 2021 - 1/2”-135 2021 - 1/2” -90
Alupanel can be mechanically secured in place by the use of threaded / screw fixings or rivets. Rivets and screws must be a minimum of 15-20mm from the edge of the panels when fixing. Care should be taken to make sure that the hole diameter allows for expansion and the fixings are not over tightened as this will cause de-formation of the surface. In addition we can provide colour matched caps and washers for a professional finish.
Use standard screen printing inks. (panels must be clean and free from dust and grease). Please test the adhesion of the individual link before application.
The use of air-drying acrylate or two component polyurethane varnish is necessary. If Alupanel has been over lacquered it should be bent or folded at a later date.
Alupanel is easily drilled - we suggest for best results, the use of bits designed for drilling aluminium and plastic are used. For large holes, a drill bit with a locating point is required. Cutting angle: 100° - 140° Helix angle : 30° - 50° Cutting Speed: 50 - 300 m/min Feed Speed: 0.02 - 0.5mm / Revolution Hole Size: Screw width + 2mm
